Barbecue Grill Advice

An integral part of barbecue equipment, barbecue grill has many variations, from the cheapest ones to the most luxurious and multifunctional. However, one doesn't need an expensive grill to cook delicious barbecue food, a simple grill will be enough to achieve the necessary result. Competitive marketplace is the best place to find a good and not too expensive barbecue grill: some of them cost $200, others, with additional space and perfected design – about $500. Stainless steel is considered the main barbecue grill advantage; most lower-priced models have at least one stainless part.

Those who need a simple middle-sized barbecue grill without the frills, of about $100-$300, for 4-6 servings, should choose basic grills which feature porcelain-steel grates, cast-aluminum firebox and hood. The disadvantage of this type of grill is few drawers, lack of stainless grates and trays with wood chips used for smoking. Midpriced barbecue grills contain a smoker tray (or rotisserie), an electronic igniter, high-heat side burners and allow to cook for 15 people. In general, these models have either long-warranty burners or premium grates. The price varies from $300 to $500. As to a high-end grill, not everyone can afford it, but it is rather worth buying. Having all the features of a midpriced grill, it boasts more powerful burners with lifetime warranties, better storage space, a fully rolling cart, and the main benefit – all-stainless construction. It can also include toe-kick to hide the wheels. The price of such a barbecue grill is from $500 to $1000 and more, but the quality of grilling doesn't change much.

While choosing a grill, one should know that grates of porcelain-coated steel are easy to clean and rustproof, but rather fragile. Bare cast iron is sturdier, but needs to be greased with cooking oil to prevent from rusting. Grills with 300-series stainless steel including nickel are more solid (and expensive) than 400-series stainless. Manufactures often use cheaper materials for depreciation, so the price of a barbecue grill influences not the cooking capacities of a grill, but its serviceability.
